Butterfingers 1.2MG 30th Anniversary

Butterfingers, a local Malaysian band, introduced grunge music around 30 years ago. Their debut album “1.2 Milligrams” sold over 15,000 units, and their second album “Butter Worth Pushful” debuted at number six on the Malaysian International RIM Charts.

The band received their first AIM nominations for ‘Best Engineered Album’ and ‘Best English Album’ with over 18,000 units sold. Butterfingers’ album “Transcendence” was a huge success, debuting at number three on the RIM International Charts and selling over 60,000 units, earning the band their first Double Platinum Award.

The album features their most well-known song, “The Chemistry Between Us”. Despite mixed reactions from fans, their album “Malayneum” (2001) received critical acclaim. The band later released their first Malay language album, “Selamat Tinggal Dunia” (2005), and their final album together, “Kembali” (2008), which was well-received.

Butterfingers performed their farewell show at the Sunburst Music Festival on March 29, 2009.
